Grimey’s is a Nashville staple for locals and tourists alike. Here you will find a delightful variety of records, friendly staff, and even surprise concerts.
I popped into Grimey’s as one of my first stops of exploration. Lucky for me, an artist named Lindsay Lou was playing for an album release. I stayed for the show, perused the vinyl, and wound up buying my first record! The start of a new collection.
Vinyl is making a comeback, because it offers an opportunity to own the music. To have a tangible piece of it, not some ethereal slippery digital copy. Buying vinyl also greatly benefits music artists. Grimey’s and other wonderful stores like it are a blessing.
I went on a Saturday and the place was busier than any other record store I’ve been in for over a decade. It was great to feel that energy. I felt like the staff could have been more engaged with the customers though rather than just behind the counter. People tend to look for exactly what they already know. The conversations I had with two of the staff proved they were knowledgeable and they would have been better served roaming the stacks talking about what customers were considering buying.
First time in the store and what a great first experience. I attended the Barbie listening party and it was awesome! The staff really made this so fun with their costumes and enthusiasm. So many of my favorite artists had their records in store. The place was so clean and organized too.
I bought 12 vinyl records here and in total it cost me $60! Most of mine were $1! Don’t let the album cover fool you in the dollar stacks! I bought some and the records worked just fine! Just needed a bit of cleaning! Definitely will be visiting again! Best record store I’ve found based off selection! They also provide live music!
Very nice selection of records, CD, cassette tapes, videos, books and so much more. They have 2 floors of choice. The staff is helpful and can look up what they have and don't have. I didn't find the 3 bands in particular I was looking for, but did find plenty of things I was not expecting to find. I bought a great double album for the downstairs section of the more obscure. I am most pleased we went here today and look forward to visiting again soon.
A good selection of both new and used vinyl and prices are reasonable. Staff was friendly.
My cousin is a huge fan of vinyls and suggested we stop here on our quick trip to Nashville. It was definitely worth it.
The place has a large selection of new and used records on two levels. There are also books (downstairs), CDs and other paraphernalia for sale. A sign is posted outside that highly recommends wearing a mask due to the tight aisles and the high volume/traffic of people in the store. However, masks are not required but all the employees were wearing them.
Parking can be a bit of a challenge. There are other shops that share the same spots so be patient when looking.
Overall if you enjoy browsing a good record store I'd recommend taking a detour over to Grimey's.
Grimey’s consistently has an amazing selection of vinyl. I have yet to go to there and not leave with something. They also have great customer service and are extremely knowledgeable and helpful when looking for a specific album. It’s definitely the place to go for vinyl in the area.
